Our Story

Akiko Sushi is a small, family-owned restaurant in Houston that specializes primarily on the cuisine from Japan.

Akiko’s head chef and co-founder Ben started his journey with Japanese cuisine as a bus boy in Manhattan over 15 years ago. He was trained by the head chef of a fine dining Japanese restaurant for several years before travelling around west and east coast to further perfect his skills.

Ben has an incredible eye for quality when it comes to using ingredients. Akiko only use high grade Japanese short grain rice. We are proud to serve only fresh fish, Hudson Valley Foie gras, and A5 Japanese Wagyu.

Akiko also use a little amount of rice so fresh fish and other accompanying ingredients can give off a better flavor profile.

We believe in making delicious Japanese cuisine available to locals at an affordable price. Hope to see you soon!
